Olympic Athlete Steve Cram to host 2016 Awards

We’re very excited to announce Olympic Athlete and BBC Commentator, Steve Cram, as the host for the 2016 ceremony. Who better to personify success than a world class champion!

Steve Cram is a British icon recognised as one of the finest athletes
of his generation. He is a World, Olympic, European and
Commonwealth medallist as well as a three-time World Record holder during his illustrious athletics career. He was recognised for his achievements by being awarded the BBC Sports Personality of the
Year in 1983, an MBE in 1986 and a CBE in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to sport.

Steve began his broadcast career in 1995 with Eurosport and joined the BBC in 1998. He is the Chief Athletics commentator and has co-presented the last three Summer Olympic Games as well as the Winter Olympics in 2002 and 2010. Steve also co-commentates on
the ESPN coverage of the Diamond League, the Premier International athletics series, and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 5 live. He has also hosted a number of shows including 606 and Sunday Sport.

COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas) is an international children’s charity that works with communities in remote regions of the developing world to alleviate the poverty preventing children’s education. COCO listens to the needs of each community we work with in order to implement education programmes that are relevant to the local environment. The long term success of our projects relies upon their sustainability whereby community ownership, capacity building and aid independence ensure that COCO’s assistance will no longer be required at the end of the project.
